MEGA FAMILY FALL ADVENTURE: HIKE-INN

Join us for a 5 mile hike through beautiful Amicalola Falls State Park,

October 11-12

October 12th is Columbus Day and most public and private schools are closed. Around peak leaf season, the weather/scenery are so beautiful, weekend nights get booked over a year in advance. So, if you're available to do a Sunday/Monday trip, please read on!

Pack In/Pack Out

The Inn is accessible only by hiking a trail that originates at the top of the Amicalola Falls. You must begin the hike before 2PM and it takes 2-4 hours, so you'll want to start early enough to catch the eco-friendly and educational facilities tour (5PM) and family-style dinner at 6PM (vegetarian meals available). Bring only personal items, layered clothing, hiking boots, extra socks, rain gear, toiletries, water for the trail, sunscreen, insect repellent, first aid kit and flashlight. Inn provides all linens, shampoo/conditioner, blow dryers and HOT showers.

Once you arrive, cold and hot drinks are available in the dining room. In the cooler months, enjoy wood-burning stoves in the common areas. Explore Star Base, their celestial calendar, marking the movement of the sun through the seasons of the year. It's a favorite place to sit in an Adirondack chair and enjoy views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Educational and entertaining programs are conducted in the Sunrise Room after dinner most evenings - everything from worm composting to storytelling. Books, puzzles and games are also available. The Sunrise Room (as you would expect from the name!) is an excellent place to observe the sunrise in the morning. Please, no pets, cell phones, beepers, or radios.

Room Rates

The rooms are bunk style, and small, so there is a maximum on the number of people that can stay in the rooms. There are 12 available rooms, and of these 12, 4 or 5 of them are sets (meaning they adjoin). All the rooms have electric light and fan, and the screened doors open to a shared porch. Three people (two adults max) in each room max. The configurations and prices are as follows:

1 adult, one room $115.05

2 adult, one room $161.05

2 adults and 1 child, in one room $185.20

1 adult and 1 child, in one room $131.15

1 adult and 2 children, in one room $156.45

2 children in one room, adjoining a room where adults must be $101.85 (+ the price of the adult room)

3 children in one room, adjoining a room where adults must be $125.40 (+the price of the adult room)

Children are defined as someone who is 12 and under.

Price includes breakfast and dinner (vegetarian meals available). Trail lunches are available for a small fee. Bathhouse has hot showers (soap, shampoo, and hair dryers provided) and odor-free eco-friendly composting toilet. All linens are provided on site.
