Family Building Resources The MEGA Family Project offers two wonderful programs for our members to learn more about what their family building options are, and what issues they can expect to face in building their families. The decision to add children to your family is one of the most important decisions you will make in your lifetime. It is our goal to help arm you with the facts about your options, so you can make the decision that is best for your family. Creating A Family: Choices for Prospective LGBT Parents This is our largest and most comprehensive workshop for people considering parenthood or adding cjhildren to their family. It is a day-long workshop that attempts to educate you about the options available to you from both a practical and personal perspective. It covers topics such as open adoption, donor insemination, foster parenting, surrogacy, adopting from the foster care system, and international adoption. In addition, we will cover the very important legal issues facing prospective parents, financial considerations, and the psychological aspects of becoming a parent. We have a special Family Market Place where attendees can talk with agencies, organizations, doctors, and other individuals who can help you on your journey to parenthood. Maybe Baby? Our Maybe Baby seminars are for people looking for information about becoming a parent in between our Creating a Family workshops. This is a 2 hour seminar covering the basics of the options available to prospective parents. Hosted by MEGA's Executive Director, you will hear about each of the different options available to you, basic information about costs for each method, resources for people wanting to explore the different options, legal issues parents face, and what are the psychological implications of adding children to your family. This seminar helps people learn a lot of the real facts about the different methods, and possibly learn about options you hadn't considered. Participants will walk away with a folder of information and resources to help them on their journey to parenthood. You can expect to learn about who the gay-friendly providers are who can help you with whatever option you choose. It is definitely a great starting point to learn about whether parenting is right for you, and what options might be best for your situation.
