August, New Parent Meet Up for Metro Atlanta, 9:30-11:30!

We have seen a surge of members who have just had children or are about to have children in the next few months, so we thought it would be important to bring people with babies/toddlers or soon-to-be babies together so you can meet each other and network. As you will find out, it is especially helpful to have people in your network with children who are close to the same age as yours. We ask that you be a current dues-paying member to attend our New Parent Meet Up Group. RSVP details coming soon!

August 19th , MEGA's Prospective Parent Group Meet Up --The Stork Club!

7:00-8:30pm

MEGA's new monthly group for our prospective parents. This is a great opportunity to network with other prospective parents, share your ups and downs, and get support for the journey you are taking. This will be a place where others will understand your journey, pain and joy. We bet you will make friends for life. This is NOT an information session if you are looking for information about how to become a parent. This is a monthly meet up for prospective parents who have already collected the information about starting a family, and have begun their journey toward parenthood.

August 19th, MEGA's Coming Out Support Group, "Coming Home"

7:00-8:30pm

The Metro Atlanta area's only coming out group for adults 18+. The group meets the 3rd Thursday of each month from 7:00-8:30pm. It meets at the MEGA Family Project office space at 1530 Dekalb Avenue, Suite A, Atlanta, GA, 30307. Questions, please contact Kathy Kelly at (404) 808-3350. This is such a valuable and much needed resource for our community, so please pass this information along to anyone you think will be interested. August 26th, Maybe Baby, 7-9pm Register Now!

Meet with MEGA's Executive Director to begin your preliminary journey to explore the options available to LGBT people in starting a family. This will be an intimate discussion about the basics potential parents should know before embarking on their parenting journey. Learn about some of the real issues you will face, how much does it really cost, and get resources to start exploring your journey. This is for anyone who wants to begin exploring the parenting journey. It is meant to give you some basic information about your options for starting a family, dispel myths, and give you a place to discuss what you are thinking and feeling. October 2nd, 2010 MEGA Family Conference

MEGA's all-day workshop for parents, prospective parents, and our children. Our signature Creating a Family workshop will be held at this conference, along with dozens of workshops of interest to parents.

December 4th , Creating a Family: Choices for Prospective LGBT Families

Join us at MEGA's signature all-day workshop to learn about the options available to LGBT people wanting to add children to their family. You will hear from a panel of professionals and parents who will talk to you about the process of adding a child through adoption, surrogacy, donor insemination, foster parenting, foster adoption, and international adoption. An attorney will speak about the legal issues prospective parents will face, and we will also discuss the emotional and practical issues of becoming a parent. This all-day workshop also includes a family market place where you can speak to professionals about the services they offer. This intensive workshop is the best of its kind in helping you explore your options and whether the parenting journey is right for you. Registration details coming soon!
