Our families Rock!
Creating, Strengthening, & Protecting
LGBT Families
This year’s annual conference will have dozens of workshops relevant to our families including ones on the many paths to creating families, useful skills for strengthening our family units like parenting tips on raising girls/ boys, enhancing same-sex relationships, multi-cultural families, as well as ones geared toward informing you on ways to protect your family like legal options for the couple, the parent-child relationship, and negotiating bullying. These are just a few, so keep looking on MEGA’s website as soon we will load up the entire schedule of the day! Each of the workshops will be facilitated by professionals and LGBT parents with special expertise/experience with each topic. In addition, there will be lots of time for discussion so you can get your questions answered. As always with registration comes access to child care with LGBT affirming activities for young ones and teens, yummy lunches and cookie breaks, and lots of exhibitors with services relevant to our families. We heard your feedback from last year, and this year there will be even more opportunities to “Meet up” with families like yours during the day, after the conference to grab some eats, or informally in the weeks to come after the conference.
It's going to be an exciting day as we highlight the many ways that “Our Families Rock!” So put it in your smart phone, your calendar, or paint it on your ceiling, but be there! Saturday, Oct. 2 from 9:00 to 4:00 at the Unitarian Congregation 1911 Cliff Valley Way, NE, Atlanta, GA 30329. Early registration rates are available until September 10th!

We had an amazing vacation!

Dear Friends and Supporters,
The MEGA Family Project aims to provide the very best support, education, and advocacy for LGBT families in Georgia. We are a very small organization trying to serve the needs of over 4,000 people in Georgia. That is a very tall order for an organization staffed with only one person.
Our needs in Georgia are MUCH greater than the resources we receive. It is very difficult to pick where to put our limited resources because there are so many important issues facing our families. For every good thing we do for families, I can think of 20 things we aren't doing. We can change this.
MEGA doesn't receive big grant money to help us operate. We rely exclusively on our individual donors and business partners to help us operate. Like many other organizations, we have seen a substantial drop off in donations since the economy has worsened. As a result, we need your support more than ever so we can continue operating the MEGA Family Project, and working to meet the needs of more of our families.
We have a program called the MEGA Family Champions that is vitally important to the health of MEGA. It is so important because it gives us a base of donations we know we will receive each month to meet our operating expenses. This is so important when we want to plan future events and programs.
MEGA Family Champions make a monthly tax-deductible donation to the organization in whatever amount they can afford---from $10 to $100 a month. Most have this amount directly charged to a credit card each month, so it is very easy to make the monthly donation. These donations grouped together each month allow us to continue to operate.
MEGA Family Champions are so important to the stability of the organization that we offer special membership discounts to our Champions. Champions receive special discounts on most of our events, and special offers of tickets or other freebies the organization may receive.
Can you donate $10, $25, or whatever amount you can afford per month to make sure MEGA keeps its doors open? This is the time we need you to step forward and become a Family Champion. We wouldn't ask if we didn't need it.

Please consider supporting LGBT families in Georgia. Without your support, we simply can't do it.
It is a pleasure to serve our family community. Please contact me with any questions.
Best wishes,
Kathy Kelly
